CERTIFIED MEDICARE SECONDARY PAYER PROFESSIONAL CMSP PROGRAM Prerequisite Criterion

Professional Experience required to obtain the CMSP

A minimum of 24 months of full time employment within the past 3 years in any of the following professions. Acceptable employment means that the candidate is working within the Workers' Compensation, Liability, Auto or PIP insurance industry.

License Requirement

In order to obtain the CMSP credential, each candidate must have one of the licenses or certifications listed below. The license or certification must be current and the applicant in good standing with the professional or licensing organization. Certified Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP) Insurance Claims Adjuster: Licensed per state requirement or certified by company license Risk Management Professional: Certified Risk Manager (CRM) Attorney: Licensed to practice law per state requirement Life Care Planner: Certified Life Care Planner (CLCP) Life Care Planner: Certified Nurse Life Care Planner (CNLCP) Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Certified (MSCC) Case Manager: Certified Case Manager (CCM) Disability Management Professional: Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS) Rehabilitation Specialist: Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) Rehabilitation Specialist: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) Occupational Health: Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)(COHNS) Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC) Certified Risk Manager (CRM) Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Associates in Claims - Insurance Institute of America (AIC) Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM)
